Ecuador Police Write its Name in the Guinness Record Book
The National Police of Ecuador broke a Guinness Record by collecting the largest number of signed acts of non-consumption of drugs by the thousands of participants who today crossed the finish line in the athletic festival “Yo Vivo Sin Drogas, Tú Decides “; Which was simultaneously carried out in all capitals of the provinces of the country and internationally in El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico and Panama.
86938 acts of compromise were reached and thus beat the record reached by India, on September 30, 2016, in a similar event (commitments received for a health campaign), with 84 556 documents.
In order to be able to audit the entire process, Guinness World Record representatives arrived to Ecuador to certify the achievement achieved, which required the certification of an auditing company of international prestige, such as Deloitte. Two observers in each province counted and verified the data of each of the minutes and the data were processed in a unified command post, in the premises of the National Anti-Narcotics Office.
Carlos Tapia Rojas, adjudicator of Guinness World Record in Mexico and Latin America, congratulated the 47,000 police for their demonstrated commitment to the Ecuadorian people and teamwork, which has impacted millions of people. He said that in addition to looking after national security, they are promoting campaigns to address the health of citizens. He also thanked the hospitality received by the Ecuadorian people and congratulated them for achieving the same goal.
In the history of the Guinness Records, policemen such as Colombia and Russia have been part of this type of international recognition, but the National Police Ecuador becomes the only uniformed institution in the world that has led a Guinness Record, Responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of this type of events.
In this way, the National Police of Ecuador writes its name in the book of the Guinness Record and reaffirms its commitment to continue working for the safety of all Ecuadorians from its different axes, including prevention. / DNCE
